Precision Hand Tools (Calipers, Gages, Indicators)
Mitutoyo digital and dial calipers set the industry standard for precision. Available in ranges up to 300 mm (12″) with absolute (ABS) linear encoders, Mitutoyo calipers measure inside, outside, depth and step dimensions with exceptional repeatability. Caliper jaws are flame-hardened stainless steel (often with carbide tips) for wear resistance. Today Mitutoyo is the benchmark brand for calipers and other measuring tools, prized for accuracy and durability. Popular models include IP67-rated ABS Digimatic calipers that hold zero through battery changes, dial calipers (no batteries) with crystal-clear scales, and special-purpose gages (sheet-metal, snap gages, etc.) for shop-floor use.
- ABS Digimatic Calipers: Digital readout with no-zero setting required (absolute scale). Data output (Digimatic, USB or Bluetooth) enables easy SPC data capture.
- Dial & Vernier Calipers: Mechanical calipers (dial or vernier) that never lose reference. Many users prefer Mitutoyo’s finely machined dial gages for long life.
- Depth and Step Gages: High-accuracy electronic depth gages and combination step gages, some with SPC output.
- Precision Indicators & Gages: Dial indicators, test indicators, gage blocks and pin gages – Mitutoyo offers hardened steel and carbide-contact versions with factory calibration. (Mitutoyo is “a leader in precision gaging; spare parts, repairs, and support will be available” for years.)
High-Accuracy Micrometers
Mitutoyo digital micrometers provide sub-micron accuracy for outside, inside and depth measurements. From standard 0–25 mm models to large-tool versions, Mitutoyo micrometers feature carbide faces, IP65 dust/water resistance, and optional wireless U-WAVE® data modules. The new MDE QuantuMike digital micrometer exemplifies Mitutoyo innovation: it achieves a maximum error of just ±1 µm while moving 2.0 mm per spindle turn (about 4× faster than typical micrometers). Tolerance-indicator LEDs and bidirectional USB/Bluetooth ports on many models speed data collection. Advanced micrometer series include quick-action thimbles and foot switches for rapid measuring, as well as specialized BoreMic® inside-measure units and Digimatic depth micrometers.
- Outside Micrometers (0–300 mm): Standard, large, and high-accuracy models (e.g. QuantuMike) with Digimatic output.
- Inside & Bore Micrometers: Interchangeable anvils for ID measurement, some models handle bores up to 500 mm with ultra-accuracy.

Vision Measurement Systems
Mitutoyo Quick Vision systems combine high-magnification optics with sub-pixel edge detection for fast, non-contact inspection. The new Quick Vision Pro series introduced StrobeSnap™ strobe lighting, slashing cycle times ~35–45% versus legacy vision machines. Autofocus is 39% faster than before, yet accuracy remains at the level of previous best-in-class models. These systems, with up to 4,300× magnification, excel at measuring small electronic and medical parts or stacks of EV motor laminations by camera. As one user noted, Mitutoyo vision machines are “extremely precise” and 83% faster than earlier models, eliminating inspection bottlenecks.
- Quick Vision Pro: High-speed CNC vision machines with large beds for batch inspection. Ideal for microelectronics and medical device production.

- Industries: Mitutoyo vision systems serve medical, aerospace, and automotive quality labs – anywhere tiny features demand rapid, non-contact measurement.
Surface & Form Metrology
Mitutoyo offers a full lineup of form, finish, and contour measurement tools. Portable Surftest profilometers measure surface roughness (Ra, Rz, etc.) to nanometer-scale resolution, while Formtracer systems trace cross-sections and profiles of molds, gears and complex shapes. Notably, Mitutoyo can integrate a Surftest probe onto its CNC CMMs: the Surftest + SurfPak-SP option lets operators perform dimensional and surface roughness measurements in one setup. This eliminates extra handling and speeds up inspection flow. Similarly, Mitutoyo Roundtest machines inspect roundness and cylindricity, and Contracer machines measure thread profiles and form. All form and finish instruments come with Mitutoyo’s trusted gauge-block calibration and software for SPC trend analysis.
Metrology Software & Data Management
Mitutoyo’s software suite ties all measurement data together. MeasurLink® quality management software collects real-time data from any Mitutoyo or compatible device – calipers, gauges, CMMs, vision and more – supporting complete SPC analysis. MeasurLink 9 provides online data collection with SPC charts, true-position charting and tolerance reporting for the whole plant. Coordinate-measurement software MCOSMOS® (2D/3D) and MiCAT Planner™ (CAD-based CMM programming) streamline CMM use. For handheld tools, the U-WAVE® wireless data system transmits Digimatic readings straight to Excel or quality software, “saving time, eliminating typos”. Thermo-Temp can install and train your team on all these systems, ensuring your Mitutoyo tools fit into a smart factory data workflow.
